Georgia
Getting a marriage license in Georgia  is a relatively quick and easy process. There is no waiting period and no blood test required.  Both of you need to appear at the appropriate office (see above) with a picture ID (Driver's License or other) and the exact amount of cash required.  If either of you are divorced, bring the divorce decree(s) to the office.  Both of you must be 18 years of age to get married without parental consent. If either of you are between 16 and 18 years of age then you must be accompanied by your parents who will have to sign a consent form.

If you have had premarital counseling you must have a certified copy of completion of training on letterhead with at least 6 hours of training and dates of instruction listed on the certificate. The certificate must be signed and dated by a qualified instructor such as a counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, or an active member of the clergy. Call the appropriate office for more details.

If either of you are a resident of Georgia you can receive your license from any county. If not, you must receive the license in the county where the marriage is to be performed. Fort Gordon soldiers can go to either Richmond or Columbia county for a marriage license.

Once you have the marriage license you can be married immediately.  We have had couples leave the courthouse and come directly to Christ Church Unity to be married using the 'elopement' package.    Whether you have days or months to plan we can put together a beautiful and intimate wedding at the location of your choosing or at Christ Church Unity.
South Carolina
In Aiken County both bride and groom need to show up with a photo id and a Social Security Card. The cost is $45 in cash in exact denominations. A divorce decree is only needed if the woman had her maiden name re-instated. Once you fill out the forms there is a 24 hour waiting period until you can pick up your marriage license. No blood test is required. Residency in South Carolina is not required. Both of you must be 18 years of age to get married without parental consent. If either of you are between 16 and 18 years of age then you must be accompanied by your parents who will have to sign a consent form and provide guardianship papers and identification. Please call the office for specific information.
