Our first pick is Christ Church Unity. For a small, intimate, and affordable wedding Christ Church Unity is perfect for a wedding of 90 guests or less. We have a package that includes the rental of the church.
We have performed weddings at Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Columbia County. There is a covered deck that overlooks the water which makes for a lovely wedding around sunset, and in the fall when the leaves change colors.
For those of you who want a beautiful and affordable wedding on Clark's Hill Lake, Mistletoe State Park built a new area perfect for a small wedding. Across the road is a covered area that could be used for a reception. Since it is a State Park, you just have to pay a minimal fee to reserve the space. http://www.gastateparks.org/info/mistletoe/
We performed a small ceremony at VFW Post 3200 located at 2901 Gun Club Road, Augusta. The couple decorated the room beautifully and the staff was courteous and helpful.
If you are looking for an elegant wedding setting, then check out the Marriot Hotel on the riverwalk. The room was decorated beautifully and the staff made sure everything was just right.
If you are looking for a church to get married in, First Christian Church at 629 Greene Street is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen. It can accommodate fairly large weddings. I was most impressed with the staff at the church. Four very kind and capable people scurried around making sure that all the details were just right. A custom of the church is when the happy couple is introduced at the end of the ceremony, the church bells start ringing. I highly recommend this venue.
The Marbury Center has an outside courtyard. There is a fountain in the center which has to be planned around, especially for the processional. Receptions can be held in the building.
Another venue for a small wedding is atop the Partridge Inn overlooking Augusta where the view is spectacular. They also have ballrooms available. The staff is professional and courteous.
We have performed weddings outside of the Old Government House. However, the nearby traffic makes it difficult at times to hear the speaker.
Sacred Heart Cultural Center is an old restored Catholic church which makes for a beautiful traditional setting. The staff was helpful and accessible.
Just recently we officiated a wedding at the Marion Hatcher Center. It is a beautiful facility for a ceremony and reception. This particular wedding was held outside, at night, in a spacious backyard that can seat up to 250. They have a new Bose sound system so all can hear. The facility director, Bea Wylie, was warm, organized and professional, making sure all aspects of the event were taken care of. Their number is 706-823-2333
Some of the most intimate and endearing weddings we have performed have been in homes. In a familiar setting the bride and groom seem more at ease and present.
